Comment:
The opening concert of the Queen + Paul Rodgers The Cosmos Rocks Tour. It was a free concert at the Freedom Square in Kharkiv, Ukraine. Around 350,000 people attended the concert! This DVD version covers the COMPLETE concert and runs for 147 minutes, so they played a very long performance! The concert was broadcasted live on TV in the Ukraine. This concert is officially released in 2009 on DVD, but they left out a couple of songs like A Kind Of Magic, Wishing Well and Radio Ga Ga. The image and sound quality on this complete version are both excellent and a pleasure to watch. They played three songs from The Cosmos Rocks album. Say It's Not True, C-Lebrity and Cosmos Rockin'. The song Say It's Not True is (of course) the album version and sung by Brian, Paul and Roger together. It is much different than the version sung by Roger alone during the last tour. I think C-Lebrity is a great song and Cosmos Rockin' is nice and was played during the encore. There are some other additions to the setlist in comparison with the last tour. One Vision was on this concert the show opener. Seagull was played once again, but this time Paul performed it all alone without Roger. Shooting Star, a great song from Paul, was also played for the first time together on stage. The biggest surprise for me was Brian's performance of Bijou! A great addition and I totally love it! They showed Freddie on the big screen when you heard Freddie's studio vocals. Very intense. A nice short Bass Solo by Danny Miranda together with Roger. You could even hear some tiny bits of Under Pressure and Another One Bites The Dust. '39 features the whole band on the ''B-stage'' and they played the song all together. The Show Must Go On is not performed during the encore, but straight after Tie Your Mother Down. No slow version of Hammer To Fall as it was the fast version. Bohemian Rhapsody is once again sung by Freddie on the big screen during the first part. It's the live version from Montreal 1981. The second part is sung by Paul. All together it was a nice performance. Special thanks to ''Wez'' to use his great cover art for this DVD version! No copy errors. Not sourced from VCD/SVCD.
